Gatsby was bisexual in the original novel. Note his affair with the yachtsman, whose boat he rows to. No offense to you, but I find your analysis of the original work a bit off. Did you actually read it? If you were in my class, you'd get far less than an A. Have you even considered Fitzgerald's take on love and yearning and the American Dream? What about the work's reflection on its time period? And does your mother like every other classic book she's ever read? I don't know your mother, and she's probably quite a wonderful well-read woman, but you really don't make the case for her opinion being valuable to your readership here. The rest of the review is nicely written. I would just remove your second paragraph and if you want, possibly expand your take on the white male canon if you wish. I just screened the documentary PARIS IS BURNING for my LGBTQI class. I'd love to do a paper comparing the film to Gatsby. The parties. The dreams of white riches. And it even ends with a tragic death of one of its heroes. The Black 1990s versus the White Jazz Age.
